Traditions
I have always been a big believer in keeping your heritage alive and in your everyday life. This is a large part of who you are in life. Over the years I have received our families cooking tools and recipies to make some yummy favorites.
The amazing thing about heritage is that once you get married you inherite a whole second family of traditions. I have enjoyed learning my husband's heritage and traditions. Now the fun begins as you learn how to blend both of your traditions together to make YOUR family traditions. We have been doing this for almost 18 years now. Our goal is to ensure these traditions get passed to our three children.
This has been a fun journey doing this and they have learned a lot. My thoughts now as I only have a few years left with all three at home is how to wrap all of this tradition together so that when our kids leave the house to start their own lives and families down the road that they would have this amazing care package of traditions. It is funny how when you transition from kid to young adult to adult to being a wife you somehow forget some of these traditions while finding yourself.
In thinking how to pass these traditions on in this so called care package I also think about how to share my traditions with others I meet. I have enjoyed learning about many other cultures over the years from friends. And along with traditions how to pass down our culture.
It is a work in progress and our family has strong roots we are cultivating for generations to come. I encourage you to look at your family traditions and find the ones that shape you and your family. Strive to make these the ones you pass down to your children. This is how we ensure our world will keep the family traditions along with love and faith alive in our country.
I am still working on that care package. Along this journey to create our traditions we are having lots of laughs, tears and joys that are creating our family memories. These are the roots of our family traditions....memories. always keep them close to your heart.
I leave you with this quote from one of the local cook books I received for my wedding shower. "Leave everything better than you found it."
