Whole 30 ~ UMMMM What am I doing?
I can never do a diet for longer than a few weeks, Same with getting into an exercise routine. My hubby loves my passion and ability to jump into try things but he always say I go too hard, too fast. Don't tell him but he is correct in this statement. We both know we do not have the best eating habits and over eat.
Food is something we love, we both grew up with food being the centerpiece of anything in our life: family gatherings, birthdays, accomplishments, sports wins, or just a Tuesday night. Family always gathered around the table with grandparents, aunts, uncles, or friends...that's how we socialized in North Dakota. You think back to your grandparents and you know exactly what they would have on the table for that occasion.
We ended 2021 talking about making a change in what we ate, not really a diet. But to eat less processed foods. Our friends were going to start this Whole 30 thing the first of the year and told us a bit about it. Instantly we knew this is how we wanted to kick 2022 off with. This Whole 30 thing gave us some structure to what we wanted to accomplish with our eating habits. The four of us picked the date Jan 8th to start so we could each prep our houses with the correct foods. Hard to do when you still have your kiddos who want something quick. Getting the kids 100% on clean eating is going to be a slow move.
Today was the second full day of our Whole 30 program. I spent most of the day prepping and cooking food for the week. I have enough for over five meals for the family and several salads for my lunches. We also have the fridge full of fruits and veggies to snack on, tons of eggs and most importantly compliant coffee creamer for me. I am not sure I could do this without my creamer.
We have a typical week of sports and activities so need to ensure I also have my trusty cooler of snacks....aka..fruit. Not the same as popcorn and a diet Mt Dew at the basketball games, but it's still good.
Here are a few pictures of what I prepped and cooked. I didn't follow any recipe for these just kind of winged it.
