Easy Apple Dumplings....finally fall.

APPLE DUMPLINGS

I made another yummy dish tonight for dessert ~ apple dumplings. Thankfully the hubby brought home chicken from KFC for supper so I decided to try a Pintrest recipie. I made a few changes but mostly followed the recipie.

Apple dumplings remind me of my Grandma. When she was in an assisted living facility they had Apple Dumpling Days every fall. I tried to make apple dumplings a while ago and they never came close to these apple dumplings from this place. Until I found this recipie online. And bonus....its really easy to make!

Preheat oven to 350
Grease 9x13 cake pan

Dumplings:
2 apples (cut and pealed into 8 wedges)
2 rolls crescent rolls
* Roll each wedge up into one triangle of the crescent roll and place in the pan.

Sauce:
1.5 cups brown sugar
2 sticks butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Vanilla
Pop (I used diet Mt.Dew)
* Melt together in saucepan on low until butter melts. Continue stirring until sauce thickens.
* Pour sauce over dumplings in pan. Scoop on top of dumplings to cover them. It will run off but thats okay.
* Carefully pour the pop into the pan around the dumplings. Do not pour directly on top of the dumplings.

Bake for 45 minutes at 350 until they are golden brown. The apples stay hot for a long time so you may want to cut them up if serving to little ones. Or your hubby....he didn't listen to me and took a huge bite even after I warned him that they were hot. He tried to be tough....but he couldn't take it. He finally admitted they were indeed hot. Lol Don't worry no one got burns on their tongues. Everyone loved these and they were super easy. Will definitely make these again.
